The awards’ website says it is a chance for the sector “to celebrate the achievements of their rising stars, shine a spotlight on their innovative workforce programs, and showcase why they are the industry’s employer of choice.”

UNSW Canberra senior lecturer Oleksandra Molloy, the lead of the Aviation program, said it was an honour to receive the award.

“To be recognised as the best training and development program from an impressive group of finalists is incredibly rewarding,” Dr Molloy said.

“This award is the result of dedication and hard work by our entire Aviation team and our colleagues in the School of Science.

“This award is not just a recognition of past achievements, but a motivation for the future. I would like to acknowledge our Defence and industry external advisors who help us develop a program that meets the ever-evolving needs of the Australian Defence Force (ADF).

“We are in the privileged position to be training the next generation of leaders in the ADF and aviation industry and to share our passion for aviation with them. We are ensuring that the future Defence leaders are always prepared to face any challenge with confidence and competence.”

UNSW Canberra was shortlisted alongside Serco Asia Pacific, Navantia Australia, Aya Leadership, KPMG, and Soldier On and took home the award at a ceremony in Sydney on Wednesday night.

The Aviation program sits within the School of Science and trains Australian Defence Force Academy cadets in the technical and scientific aspects of aviation, with a particular focus on aviation safety.
